Congratulations to Jim Litterelle 2022 Mineola High School Athletic Hall Of Fame Induction Jim Litterelle played football, basketball and baseball during his high school career where he won football and basketball league championships. Jim earned the Jim Thorpe Award as Nassau County's best high scchool football player during his senior year. After high school Jim went on to Penn State University. In 1967 Jim's senior year he was named captain of the Penn State Nittany Lions football team. His college career finished with top-10 ranking and tying the Florida State Seminoles 17-17 in the Gator Bowl. |

Congratulations to Jack Emmer 2022 Mineola High School Athletic Hall Of Fame Induction Jack Emmer was also a three sport athlete and teammates with Jim Litterelle at Mineola High School when both won championships in football and basketball. After graduating high school Jack went on to Rutgers University and was a wide receiver on the Scarlet Knights football teaam and All-American defenseman on the lacrosse team. After college Jack began his lacrosse coaching career at Cortland State in 1970, where he finished his three-year tenure with a 32-6 record and an appearance in the NCAA tournement in 1972. Jack's next stop as Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA. Jack led the Generals to six-straight NCAA tournement appearances from 1973 to 1978. In his 10 tournement appearances for the Virginiia school, Jack coached wins over powerhouse Navy and Johns Hopkins. among others, While reaching the NCAA Semifinals twice. In 1984, Jack moved to the United State Military Academy at West Pint to coach Army. He led Army to eight NCAA tournement appearances, becoming one of two coaches to lead three different teams to the postseason tournement. While at Army, Jack broke the NCAA record for wins by a coach (326 wins) before retiring in 2005, that same year he was inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame. |
