'Flash' Slide Show/Photo Album

Background: When we have a class event or when a few of us just get together we take pictures... lots of pictures which eventually are forwarded to me to incorporate into a server based multipage photo album and slide show and recently an accompanying audio track. This is tedious and time consuming work. I would really enjoy a 'Flash' based single page multi use application that would do all three and offer a thumbnail image navigation bar rather than picture numbers.
The current photo album template I use is good. It is, however, time consuming and tedious and the resulting multipage sections of the web siteis are space hogs on the server. The slide shows are writen in 'JavaScript'. They work fine but are limited in what I can do with them going forward.
Objective: Learn 'Flash' to develope and impliment a 'Flash' based slide show application. Either adapt an open source package or write one from scratch.
- Creat a test folders of images, thumbnail images and an audio file.
- Research 'Flash' applications and identify appropriate applications.
- Read a 500 page book and experiment.
- Identify and install or write a slide show program in 'Flash' that will run from the webserver.
- Configure/code/test the program.
- Incorporate the working application into the web site.
This test utilizes an application Expectral Photo Gallery. It works and I like this program. It does not offer an automated slide show though. I have been in touch with the authors and that is comming. When it does it is a keeper. I have purchased the license for this program.
This is a collection of 'Flash' and XML using a extention program SSP (Slide Show Pro) in 'Flash'. I like this one a lot. I have seen and read about an example using a thumnail navigation bar but its very difficult to do. THat would be really cool.
I figured out how to do the thumbnail navigation bar but its buggy and I reduced the amount of functionality to keepit from blowing up. I like it... it is based on SSP extebntion to 'Flash' and an image tweening algorythm developed by a fellow in the Czeck Republic. The internet is wonderful.
This is a test of 'FilmLoop' application that is a free slide show player for both PCs and Macs. I tested it as an embedded slide show on a webpage but you can email Loops to friends and is well worth keeping an eye on this one... downside is that it includes advertising. But its free!
