I found this picture surfing the web while looking for pictures of the old Mineola Roller Rink (see the Mineola Scrapbook). I knew Cherly (Werner) Zeranti during our junior and senior years.

Mineola JHS Room 7 Heaven...
Thanks to Elsa Coppersmith for sending me these great home room class pictures from 7th and 8th grade. The Junior High School is gone but not the memories. Elsa recalls that Mr. Alison's class was "Room 7 Heaven" as all the girls had a crush on Mr. Alison. Maybe thats why the Yorker Club attracted so many girls those years.

To kick off this section, the webmaster has posted this remarkable picture I found in my attic as I was cleaning out readying for our move to Florida.
My Posse...
See if you can identify the members of this 'Posse'. All of you will know two of these cowpokes. Those of you who attended Hampton Street School will know three and those of you that went to Corpus Christi will know the rest. The date is September 16, 1950 (it doesn't get much earlier than that for '63). This picture was taken in an open field back in those days on the north side of Old Country Road near Kruse's Deli. Please email the webmaster above with your guesses. after a suitable length of time I will post the identities.
My Posse... the answers
Front Row: Sam Lynch, Carl Petersen Back Row: Florence Schreiner, John Schreiner, Jim (Butchie) Litterelle, Terry Bitner
The white house in the background was the Davis's house on the Holly Ave. The Davises had two daughters, one of them Deidre, soon to become a cheerleader at MHS, later met and married Coach Bruce Gerhke...I wonder how many times he drove around that neighborhood with us playing cowboys then stickball or throwing a football in that field or in the street...
Our Gang at Hampton Street School...
This picture was sent in by Marianne Shiralli and is taken on the north end of Hampton Street School sometime around 1950-1952 I would guess. Now who is in this picture? Obviously Marianne and Anthony would be my first two guesses. Well I have a few ideas. Lets see who else can take a guess. Email your guesses to webmaster@mineola63.org.
Now how many classmates can you identify today? Email the webmaster with your guesses.

Trick Roppin' and My Cross Draw Holster... Yes sir, those were the days!
This is an early Color Photo of The Petersen Boys 1948 ... My brother Neil and I (Carl, I am the little one) as well as our parents one nice spring day all dressed up in our best cowboy gear. I think this stuff came from my uncle for Christmas. He lived in Oklahoma. You can tell my brother couldn't wait for my grandfather to finish taking the picture... Then off came the outfits not to be worn again except for Halloween as I recall. I gather the picture was taken to send to my Uncle!
